O ur Physical Therapist has developed specific exercise programs targeted for Pre-Natal and Post Natal care, lower back injuries and lower back pain.
Prevention of low back injuries A Back School -- for the prevention of low back injuries, which would incorporate stabilization exercises for the spine, proper biomechanics techniques for lifting and postural correction/awareness. There would be tons of information to give out concerning the prevalence of back pain and injuries, etc. Ergonomics How to set up a workstation to avoid repetitive stress injuries and back injuries...would also include instruction on how to stretch at work, the importance of taking frequent breaks, etc. Incontinence Bladder Health & Pelvic Function -- how to prevent and correct incontinence problems; the importance of pelvic floor strength for bladder and fecal incontinence, sexual function, low back and sacro-iliac alignment. Private sessions will include the use of biofeedback to ensure proper performance of pelvic floor exercises. Pre/Post-natal exercise Pre/Post-natal exercise classes designed by a licensed physical therapist to prevent the common musculoskeletal dysfunctions of pregnancy. These dysfunctions may include Diastasis Recti (separation of the rectus abdominis muscle), low back or sacro-iliac pain, varicose veins, development of faulty posture, and pelvic floor dysfunction including incontinence. The therapist will safely prepare participants physically for labor, delivery and postpartum activities |
